tennswamper
Just wondering. I'm headed there for the gun opener and was wondering what the deer were doing as far as pre-rut activity.
VTbowman
Re: Anyone from Northern NE? I live in NW Vermont and have seen the buck sign going crazy. 2 days before nothing, now rubs and scrapes everywhere. I have not seen any chasing yet but I am not out in the field much right now. No open seasons here right now.

tennswamper
Re: Anyone from Northern NE? Hoyt, I'll be in the Springview area. I'm worried about the weather with highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Is this turn "off" or turn "on" weather for your neck of the woods. Looks like 50's will be a cool down from early this week.
Reloader
Re: Anyone from Northern NE? What unit will you be hunting Tennswamper? I live just south of Omaha...but this will be my first hunting season here so I don't know too much about the deer habits yet.
tennswamper
Re: Anyone from Northern NE? I'm in the Keya Paha unit on a private ranch. THe deer where I hunt in TN are really starting to mess with the does but we are still 2 weeks away from peak chasing, estrous chasing anyway. I shot a doe saturday being followed by one yearling buck and missed one ealier that was being followed by 2 yearlings. Most of the people I've talked to says that the action can be hot and fast during the gun season but with all this warm weather, I'm just wondering what they are doing and what to expect with temps in the 50's.
