py_archer
My brother has one, but we could'nt get a response with it last Saturday. Anyone use one? What do you do to get one to sound off?
WaCoyote
Re: Pheasant Call?? I've never heard of a pheasant call. Are they for locating a rooster or something?
waterfowler_gal
Re: Pheasant Call?? I have one but have never used it... as long as you know what kind of cover they like and have dogs that seems to be the best method... these are birds that you are made to work for... that's why it is so darn rewarding when you limit out.... py_archer
Re: Pheasant Call?? When cresting over into another area we hit the call hoping for a response. Nothing. Even when I know birds are there by hearing them sound off on their own. We are imitating that cackle they make. Anyone else use one with any success? It's a Haydels which btw sounds very similar to their Blue Wing Teal call.
Tominator
Re: Pheasant Call?? Never heard of one. I've heard of hawk calls that are supposed to pin a bird still so it stops running. Some dog collars imitate this sound so the bird will hold point. I've got a neighbor that uses a hawk call and tries to shoot birds using flu-flu arrows. Dakota
Re: Pheasant Call?? I have one. I used it Sunday but it didn't work. I think it's for attracting yotes. Shot one rooster on Sunday. I was the only one in our bunch to do so. The #2's hit him hard at 50 yards!
Tominator
Re: Pheasant Call?? [ QUOTE ] The #2's hit him hard at 50 yards! [/ QUOTE ] That's quite a load! #4 is the largest shot I've ever used. But the "prarie" situation in Ohio is a little different than South Dakota's. Nice shot! WaCoyote
Re: Pheasant Call?? I use BB's for long shot's in thin cover. Never tried 2's. Typically I try to stick with 4's though.
