Huntr104
I need some feedback quick. Just before dark today I shot a doe with my bow. I've shot deer before with my bow but this situation has me stumped. I hit the doe, she did the typical high rear leg kick and took off like a bat out of ****. Thinking I made a great shot I gave it a half hour and went over to retrieve my arrow. At the place where she stood there was a ton of hair but No blood. I found my arrow just past where she stood sticking into the ground. There was Not a speck of blood on the arrow just a small chunk of white meat (fat). By now it is pitch dark and all I have is a small flashlight. I find where she had run and found more hair about 30 yds from where she was hit. Still No blood. I've pretty much convinced myself that this was just a nick. But why did she act like she was hit hard. What do you think? Have you ever hit a deer with a pass through shot and not find blood on the arrow? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

dg
Re: Tracking a hit deer. Need help asap What color of hair was it? As for killing a deer with a clean arrow? No.
jci63
Re: Tracking a hit deer. Need help asap sounds like you hit the deer low, and only the broadhead connected. possible the deer reacted the way it did, because you scared the crap out of it, when your arrow hit! Just my two cents

dogdoc
Re: Tracking a hit deer. Need help asap it there is no blood on the arrow then it was more than likely a low hit--the broadhead cut her skin which still hurt or stung her so you got the high kick. She's probably feeding in the field as we type. todd

Hoosierbuck
Re: Tracking a hit deer. Need help asap What the folks are saying is, White hair= you grazed the belly/chest low, and did not fatally hit the deer. (With some degree of certainty.) Huntr104
Re: Tracking a hit deer. Need help asap Looked all day. I'm very confident she's ok. Just had to be sure. Was a tough night replaying the shot over and over in my mind. Maybe I'll get a pic of her on my trail cam with her new hair cut. Thanks again everyone.
