ladyluck
One of my girlfriends was planning on going on a mountain goat hunt either in Alaska or Canada. Her husband and her usually rotate hunts each year but both go along. She started contacting guides regarding this type of hunt. Boy.. did she get shut down quick by several guides stating "that type of hunt is not made for a women due to it being a very difficult and challenging hunt". Well she did find one that agreed to take her. She got herself in very good shape by doing aroebics for an hour a day and walking 5-7 miles a day. She said there was no way anyone was going to prove that a women could not do this hunt. Well..she just got back last week. She did say it was a challenge but the best hunt she has been on. She got her mountain goat the 2nd day!!!! I am so proud of her for doing so well on her hunt and standing up for women's hunting rights. leatherneck
Re: A true story Good for her! I cant even believe that anyone would say that to her. If it were me, I would take some kinda legal action for discrimination. But then again I am a fighter and like to stir the pot everyonce in a while too!!! ladydiehard
Re: A true story Isn't that amazing? But if a weak scrawny guy had called them or an overweight out of shape guy, it wouldn't have mattered simply because it was a guy. Don't even get me started with this kind of junk.... Guest Andrea
Re: A true story I can't stand people like that. If she was willing to pay for the hunt..........it shouldn't matter if she's a WOMAN. Crap like that boils my blood............... Well...I sure am glad she got her goat. I think if it were me....I'd call those other outfitters and tell them all about my SUCCESSFUL hunt and maybe email them a picture.

Alisha
Re: A true story I'm with huntin girl on this one.... I'd definately make sure I contacted them by phone and if they hung up on me or gave me a snotty attitude, I'd make sure I sent them my sucess story in detail and sent pictures as well! There's absolutely no reason why they should have turned her down for a hunt! Not all women are prissy little things..... some of us are actually tough and don't care about breaking a nail or being elbow deep in guts. [/ QUOTE ] HEY!!! I resemble that remark!!!!! Actualy; I know what you mean.... I was working my p/t job the other day and a woman came in to look at a bow. I asked her all the normal q's.... Was it for hunting? 3-D shooting? shooting in the back yard? I measured her draw length, asked her what kind of draw weight she thought she could handle....fit her for a bow and took her on the shooting lane... After it was all said and done she said.... " I really want to thank you for working with me...." I said it's no problem that's why were here." She said "NO! I mean it....the last few stores I had been in didn't even come over to help me....and one guy asked me "Are you buying this bow for your husband"? She said "You did everything right.....I'm a woman but I like to hunt too!!!" MAN! what a feeling I had!!! I wish my boss was there!!! lol.... could of scored a raise!! Anyhow....hang on ladies....I've said for years... The future of our sport is in your hands!!!! The more of you we can get involved will secure our hunting future!!! Be Good! "Bo" ... buckee
Re: A true story I'm proud of her too. That's a great hunting story. I don't think I'm in good enough shape to do that, in fact, I know I'm not...but I'll bet if I phoned an outfitter they wouldn't question my fitness, because I'm a guy. That just isn't right, but I sure am glad she proved them all wrong.
