NY911Bowhunter
Did anyone else read the article in this month's Buckmasters Magazine titled "Window of Opportunity" (page 98)? Long story short it is about a 140 Inch buck taken in NC - by a guy who wrote the article - OUT HIS HOUSE WINDOW! Call me silly - but shooting a buck from your house, out a window, that just aint hunting. He goes on to say it was legal because of a damage permit he could be eligible for due to damage to his cypress trees. I am ashamed to be a member of Buckmasters after reading this article - I can't beleive they would actually print this! Anyone else have a differnt point of view? They send you a mag until you die - that's the point! But at the rate your inflicting self damage - maybe you can see if they can pass on the membership to a next of kin - you know - get your moneys worth! NY911Bowhunter
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) [ QUOTE ] he could have, and WOULD have, gotten a permit because it was causing damage to a few of his trees [/ QUOTE ] Exactly - Thank you! I thought that was odd too. What the heck were they thinking there at BM?? I went to send them a hate e-mail - but work has their site blocked! Can't wait to see next month's issue! Swamphunter
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) Email them from home! Let them know what you think. I let the weather channel have it a few weeks ago. I told them their website has more pop-ups than a cheap porn site...(from what I've been told ). They never answered me. horst
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) What would be the difference in shooting one out of your house window or lets say, shooting one out of the window of an elevated shooting house?Just curious

archerjg
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) Why would anyone want to shoot out of their window in the first place? I don't understand why it would even be printed. Archerjg
Bruce Schmeck
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) I don't see what all the hubbub is about. I shoot them out of windows all the time, both the house and the car. Why get dressed up and go out to freeze your a$$ off when you can just do that? I also save $100's by not having to purchase hunting clothes. (You can hunt in your jammies.)
puffy
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) This guy would have been charged for discharging a firearm near a habitated building and failing to have a licence to shoot this deer, at least in my neck of the woods. Any mag that publishes a story like that must be trying to make a piont of how"stupid is, as stupid does" not that their playing up a good story. popgun
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) Although I don't think shooting a buck out the window of your house makes for a good hunting article; it does sound a lot like the owner of the farm where I hunt. He was taking a shower when his wife asked him if he wanted to take a buck out of the orchard that was eating his pears. He ran out on the front porch buck naked, loaded his muzzleloader, and took the shot. The buck dropped dead. My buddy went back inside the house, finished his shower, and dressed before going on out to get his deer. Nice 9 point buck. When you live in the country you don't pass up opportunity when it knocks on your doorstep, especially when the season is in, and the freezer is empty. .....popgun
NY911Bowhunter
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) I can understand that - but why on God's Earth would you publicize it, let alone in a national magazine?
Doc
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) [ QUOTE ] What would be the difference in shooting one out of your house window or lets say, shooting one out of the window of an elevated shooting house?Just curious [/ QUOTE ] I think I would really like to hear an answer to that question myself! I'm not sure about the appropriateness of that as a hunting article subject, but I am curious about the outrage against shooting from the house as opposed to shooting from one of these box-blinds that we see 14 times per week on the hunting channels. Just what IS the difference, anyway? Doc
wtnhunt
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) I would shoot one out my window. I posted on this topic a couple years ago. Why not. I plant food plots behind my house. I hunt behind my house. We have a few blinds primarily to get the kids out, but if I did take a deer from one of them myself it is still my deer and although some may view that as "shooting" and not hunting, the end result is a dead deer just the same. Hunting in the woods or shooting out of the back window, it is still taking advantage of the opportunity when it is presented. Personally I see nothing wrong with shooting a deer out your window if it is legal. I would do it.

[/ QUOTE ] Really though if you were not out hunting and in the middle of the day during hunting season a nice buck showed up behind your house on your farm, would you shoot it and take advantage of that opportunity, or would say to yourself this is not hunting so I will just watch him walk? Honestly I am not going to lie and say I would not shoot. I would in a heartbeat. Is it hunting, well not exactly, but end result is dead deer just the same. RangerClay
Re: Buckmaster\'s Article (Window Shooter) My neighbor shot her best buck out the bathroom window. Now it is her watch on REALLY cold days. I guess if it puts meat in the freezer and it's legal it's ok. Should it be published? NEVER EVER! Why give the PETA kooks more ammo!! Personally I would step out on the deck so I would not wake up the kids Ranger
