Anyone have a Savage bolt action slug gun?

If you do, or if you have shot one in the past, what is your opinion? Was it as accurate as some people claim? How was the recoil? Did a bolt-action shotgun "feel" right? (I've never hunted with a bolt-action gun before so that might take some getting used to.)

It seems like a nice inexpensive option for a rifled slug gun, if it lives up to its claims.

I owned a Savage M210 slug gun 12 gauge, for a few years, but traded it for another M/L last year. I didn't like the length of the barrel plus there was no open sights, you had to use a scope. While the Savage was fairly accurate with Winchester Supreme Gold Sabots, it had quite a recoil. Manage to take one Deer with it the first year I owned it, one shot kill, range around 35 yards. If you don't mind the recoil of a 12 gauge and can live with no open sights and a too long of barrel then You'll be pleased with the Savage.

Got the Marlin 512 here. The stock is a partly shaved down telephone pole, and the trigger sucks, but it shoots like a house a fire. I hate the handling, but love the results! Thinking about a trip to the 'smith to get those issues sorted out. Waiting for a pile of money to show up somewhere around the house.

I've had a savage for several years and it shoots extremely well. I like the handling and feel, but the internal magazine is not very good. Without rifle sights it is more for walking/stopped deer (which I greatly prefer anyway) and I have killed several with it. Good luck with the new gun.
