magnatecsteve
Re: deer guns All but one of my gun kills have been with a flintlock, either my 50 cal rifle, or my 54 cal "smooth rifle". I did take a buck with a Mossberg 500 20 gauge.

longislandhunter
Re: deer guns I've taken deer with my .243 Winchester, 30-06, and my 12 guage remington slug gun. My favorite would have to be the .243, I just love that gun on a clear, open shot.
Guest BaerBucks18
Re: deer guns I shoot a Browning A-bolt .270 (Winchester Short Mag), the short mag really makes a difference, it shoots flatter, which makes it more accurate, and also gives it a little more power!! Rhino
Re: deer guns Like some others, I prefer bowhunting. Other than the various bows I used over the years, I've killed deer with 2 different 12 ga. shotguns using slugs, 2 different 30-06 rifles, a 30-30, 3 different 50 cal. muzzleloaders, a .243, a Savage Striker pistol in .308, a .300 Win. Mag., a 30-378 Weatherby Mag. and virtually all of my rifle hunting now (except during our muzzleloader seasons) is with my Remington Model 7 chambered in .308.
