President Jimmy Carter

Well, tomorrow, President Carter will be at a nearby Wal-Mart to promote his new book....hence, my question.

Should I go?

I agree with him on little to nothing--but do think at his core he is truly a good man. And...he is a former president and it'd be pretty cool.

What do you all think?

Also, I wonder if I have to buy the book to meet him...lol

Re: President Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter is hardly a left wing liberal like Kennedy and others mentioned. I saw him in Larry King the other night, his main flaw, well, for those on here, would be his political party. As for going, I saw yes, I went and met Bob Dole last May, do I agree with his politics, no, I did when he ran for president, but I went for the place in history that he holds and the chance to meet someone who is one of the most influential politicians of our time. As far as Presidents go, I would go to meet any one of them, regardless of politics, just because of the office they hold/held.

[ QUOTE ]

It's not about the fame for me, oldksnarc....but the historical significance and the fact that Carter, though politicallly off, is a decent man in my opinion.

Think I would go if I had the time Mark. Have to agree with what you say here. Think he is a good person, even though I thought he was a lousy president.

Re: President Jimmy Carter

Well, I ended up not going to meet Jimmy Carter. My girlfriend and I stopped over by my sister's house and I did something much more important than go to meet Jimmy Carter--spent some time hanging out with my niece and new nephew. They're gonna be some awesome young Republicans when they get older...lol

Re: President Jimmy Carter

Shoot... I'd go! I'd bring my six pack of Billy Beer, a bag of peanuts, get his book signed, and we'd sit around talking about submarines and UFO's!

We had a local resident, "Red" Beheeler, who for a number of years, portrayed Jimmy Carter - he was close enough to be his twin!
