I am looking at a new deer rifle and am down to these two and am having a hard time making up my mind. It is between the Tikka T3 hunter or the Ruger M77 Mark2 All Weather either one would be in a .300 win mag. Thanks

I have a Tikka 7mm mag and love it... since i bought it I have sold every other rifle I owned. There is no comparing the action on my Tikka, everytime people ask me why I like my rifle so much, I just show them how I can load a shell in the chamber with just my pinky finger... then I tell them to try that with their rifle - haven't found anybody that can do it with their's yet.

I am another very happy Tikka owner. Mine is a 30 06. Besides the outstanding action, the trigger on these rifles is absolutely the best on a production rifle I have ever experienced.

I predict it will shoot 180gr bullets the most accurately. The Finns like heavier bullets and the rifling twist in these barrels reflects that.

The M77s I have shot are in general rougher guns. But they are sturdy no nonsense performers.

Be warned the T3 is a light rifle. A 300 win mag in a T3 gonna kick the shortening out of a biscuit. You will absolutely want a limbsaver pad on this gun after a trip to the range. For a 300WinMag Tikka I would also go with the heavier laminated stock vs the black synthetic.

If you have your heart set on a 300Win Mag and you are recoil sensitive, go with the heavier M77.

I gotta agree with Leo here.

I realy like Rugers..but their trigger pull leaves something to be desired. Rugers are absolutely reliable and most I have shot are tack drivers. But I have heard the same or better on the Tikka's accuracy as well.

The bolt on my Ruger is quite nice though..I can easily work it with my Pinky Adamo.
