LifeNRA
Who here uses their climber during the rifle or shotgun season once it gets cold outside? Since you just cant move very far! LOL! I was wondering who here uses their in cold weather? Been kicking it around, not sure if I will use mine or not.
GWSmith
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? Constantly!!! Though I like hunting from a "Lock-On" stand more...I use the climber to scout an area to find out where to put a Lock-On first. During the season...If I climb a tree I have a weapon with me, so yes, I hunt from my climber constantly! Also hunting on property that others may use the climber makes perfect sense...Nobody steals it!!!...I take it in and take it out with me. [/ QUOTE ] Sheesh you could at least smile... nice buck I don't even own a treestand...but I have used my Father-in-laws climber before during rifle season. Definitly safer in terms of thievery... Tominator
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? Not much of a gun hunter, but when I have, no, I don't use a stand. Too much lead wizzing around, too hard to hit the dirt when you're up in a stand.
DSGB
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? I use my climber all season. I've taken more deer with a gun than a bow from my climber, but I've only been bow hunting for three years. When I used to hunt the military reservation with my uncle, that's all I used was my climber. It does make it hard to get down and move around if you get cold, but I've learned to just sit it out, cause if I get cold, then the deer probably do too, so they'll have to get up and move around. wtnhunt
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? Probably will use it some with the rifle this year. Mostly use ladder stands for gun season though.
HuntnMa
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? i use it all of the time.....ok, most of the time, i do have 3 ladder stands out and i sit in them occassionally..........the other day when i got my 125 doe, i climbed up, but my umbrella up because of the sun and put a cap in...there she was....quickest hunt i have ever been on....if i was on the ground, she would of busted me in a heartbeat....use those climbers...... beagleboy
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? I always bowhunt from my ladder stand but when it comes to shotgun season, I'm on the floor. I don't think the deer have enough time to react when you spot them and its usually too late when they spot you. Plus you have the great gift of still hunting when your on the ground and cover much more area in search of that buck, especially with a little magical white stuff on the ground. Good luck on however you hunt.

tedicast
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? I have aways gun and ml'er hunted from the ground. With the gun and ml'er my normal day is to sit in one spot from before first light untill dark. I just can't do that in cold weather in a tree stand. I have a couple spots I sit, that are really comfortable. That helps me stay warm and stay put for the day.
SaskMan
Re: Rifle Season And Climbers??? I have used my climber when gun hunting and I'll be it is colder here than there, forget the cold, climb the tee and hunt for awhile, if nothing is happening, get down and move. By the way...I'd feel safer in a tree than on the ground when the lead is flying.
