Dakota
I'm getting one today. What do you guys know about it? Any tips/suggestions? I'm hunting in a brushy area filled with deer. Any help would be great, thanks.

Jeramie
Re: Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Go with a .243, .270, .280, 30-06..... No honestly, im not a fan of the 30-30. I lost a doe on a 100yrd chip shot and every since that day ive never hunted with one again. It is far from my first choice. However, I am really into new guns so Congratulations! Make sure you pick a good round!
Guest lilcrackshot
Re: Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Great guns. Reliable and great for brushy areas out to 150 yards.
Shaun_300
Re: Winchester Model 94 .30-30 They are pretty good guns, they'll do just fine out to 150yds or so. All the people I know have had good luck with the Remington Core-Lokt 170gr ammo.

A .30-30 will do wonders on a deer if hit in the vitals. I use Winchester 125 gr. hollow points outta my .30-30 (if I use it). They are great little guns...if you plan to put a scope on it...find a model 94AE (Angle Eject).

RangerClay
Re: Winchester Model 94 .30-30 [ QUOTE ] good call snapper...i was gunna say the same thing [/ QUOTE ] I will second that motion. I put the smackdown on a deer yesterday with my 30-30. I shoot 170 gr. Nosler partitions and they just tear deer to pieces. I have shot 5 deer with my Marlin model 30as and not one have gone over 50 yards after being shot. Winchester 94's are great guns but I think the Marlins are a little more rugged. Dakota
Re: Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Thanks guys. I bought it Thurs. night and also bought some Winchester silver tip 170 gr. bullets. I'm hoping for some deer. I have a farmer friend that has been working on fences that the deer are tearing through. He had to fix one fence three times in one day! I'm gonna see if I can't take down a couple does and maybe a meat buck up there with my bow before the rifle season kicks in. Thanks for all the help!
