Well what a morning... I had this fellow working a ridge I just moved a stand into last night. I had a feeling they were scent checking does in the bean field from the secluded timber on the ridge and boy was I right!

About first light he came from my side at 45 yards and slowley worked toward me, as he got closer I saw all of the mass and new that I wanted him.

He closed the distance to a 20 yard quatered to me shot... not my favorite so I waited. Then the fatal mistake he took the trail that led him 15 feet from my stand, when he was broadside I was ready to bleat stop him and he did it on his own!

He was scanning the field below for does and this gave me all of the time I needed to scan with my fiber lit pin to find the sweet spot, So I thought.

Just as I was ready he turned and looked straight up at me! "Blam" the shot was instinct release and away he ran 900 MPH. I lost sight of him in the heavy oak limbs at about 60 yards and the leaf rustling stopped...Drop I was praying let me hear him drop. But no noise came, after about 2 minutes I saw his feet moving in a sideways direction and scraping the leaves and knew he was on his side and down. He was mine. He had laid down instead of falling and was dead within 60 yards of the shot!

Good Luck everyone.

Shoot forgot one of the most important and disturbing things. When we were caping him out at the taxidermist he had a scar on his neck evidently from fighting, but when we skinned him a dang bullet of small caliber fell out on the ground!!!!!!!!!!

I will be contacting the warden in the area to alert him of poaching going on in our area,

DANG I hate that SOOOOOO Bad!
