AJ
Aging any Remington is simply a matter of looking at the code on the barrel. As long as its the original barrel you will know when it was made. B = JAN L = FEB A = MAR C = APR K = MAY P = JUN O = JUL W = AUG D = SEP E = OCT R = NOV X = DEC 1950 = WW 51 = XX 52 = YY 53 = ZZ 54 = A 55 = B 56 = C 57 = D 58 = E 59 = F 60 = G 61 = H 62 = J 63 = K 64 = L 65 = M 66 = N 67 = P 68 = R 69 = S 70 = T 71 = U 72 = W 73 = X 74 = Y 75 = Z 76 = I 77 = O 78 = Q 79 = V 80 = A, 81 = B 82 = C 83 = D 84 = E 85 = F 86 = G 87 = H 88 = I 89 = J 90 = K 91 = L 92 = M 93 = N 94 = O 95 = P 96 = Q 97 = R 98 = S 99 = T 2000 = U 01 = W 02 = X 03 = Y 04 = Z Judging by the serial number you mentioned, it should be the early 1960's. I have one with a serial number 5129xxx and it is from 1960.
