tp793
Well this year for an early X-mas gift, my dad took myself, my brother, and a friend out to South Dakota for a week of pheasant hunting. On the first morning we saw nearly 1500 birds and everyone limited by noon. It went on like that for the rest of the week. Man was it a blast. We ended up with around 75 roosters, and I would recommend it to absolutely anybody. Just had a great time and thought I would share. Tominator
Re: Pheasant Trip You ever take into account that they ate some along the way? Or maybe they gave some to some locals. Tough to make accusations if you don't know the facts. Careful.

waterfowler_gal
Re: Pheasant Trip It is well worth it. At first you think $110 bucks holy macaroni!!! But $110 divided by 10 days well that is $11 a day--you can't compete with that!!! You just go and buy them over the counter... the early season however you can't start hunting until noon and then it switches down the season. They want to give pheasants enough time to get off their roost and move around a bit... I will be a resident in South Dakota next year so if you need the hook up just ask me! tp793
Re: Pheasant Trip Jumpchump- we hunted with others the first day we were there and they gave us a few of their birds because they didn't want to mess with them before they left. Water_gal is correct, it is $110 for a non-res license and worth every penny of it. It is easy to simply limit out in the roadside ditches where I hunted. They made the rule about not being allowed to hunt early in the morning because if you were to drive around in the morning you would see 5 times the birds you see at 10 or 12.
