bowhunt101
Fellas we had an AWSOMEhunt in NewHope yesterday like you wouldnt believe........We had been planning to hunt a farm in NewHopeNC with dogs for a week now and yesterday everybody loaded up the dogs and we turned loose over there........ The farmer said brownisdown and we where happy to ablige him cus it sounded like a durn war over there fellas.... We turned dogs out at the back of a field first thing once everybody got situated and they bumped around for a while and jumped a doe.... The doe ran to a creek and a buddy of ours shot him with the shotgun........ Wont to much longer the dogs where trailing again in the same area so we got some more dogs out and packed toem........ Well one dog got away from us and the dog is named buddy and he is huge and fast so we couldnt catch him back for nuthin.... Wont long buddy jumped and run a buck by himself for a LONG time through 4-blocks of woods.... It was kind of a bad situation because buddy got over into a stillhuntingclub but we did our best and caught him up once he lost out on the buck........ By the time we got buddy back with the big pack they had jumped and run a couple of bucks out and it sounded like war with the shots........ Well Im dragging this out alot so the long/shortversion of this is we run a TON of deer out of that place prolly like 20nannys and a bunch of bucks two of which being really bigbucks........ We got four deer alltogether I know of and my brother shot a 4pointer with buckshot........ The biggest buck I know of that was killed was a 7pointer about 14"wide and he was a really bigbuck for around here so all together it was a awsome and exciting hunt and if it was legal Id do it again today (cant hunt on sundays here), and we got more meat in the freezer. As far as Im concerned we heard the dogs run, killed some deer, talked BS, and caught all the dogs up, does it get much better than that????????-tim PS:we are gunna run the same block again the friday after thanksgiving and i cant wait!!!!!!!! also yesterday was opening day of NC bearseason but I dont think they killed very many bears around here as far as I know........ tedicast
Re: awsome doghunt in newhope!!!!!!!! I have never hunted deer run by dogs, but if I had the chance I would love to try it just to say I experienced it. Not sure it is my type of hunting, but you don't know untill you try it. bowhunt101
Re: awsome doghunt in newhope!!!!!!!! No dought fellas it is a TON of fun and I mean awsomehunting........ Some folks dont like it but you dont know till you try it and I live off of the sound of dogs running so I love it........ We run Walkerhounds for the most part with a few black&tans and blueticks along with the occasional beagles, it is really awsome........ Honestly I dont think there is another way of hunting to compare it to, and I dont know how to describe it really, but it is not about the kill, it is about the chase and the hunt, and the satisfaction you get when you hear the dog you trained running a deer for all he is worth and then the excitement when the dogs start heading your way and at any moment a buck could jump out and give you a shot........ It is just awsome that is the best word for it I think doghunting is everything to me and I dont think Id ever stop even if I had to........
