Re: Another Big buck for the realtree forum

Alright, Alright .....here is the story. I took a week off to get in the woods and go after them pretty hard. I probably averaged seeing 20-30 deer per day. Tues afternoon I had a P&Y class deer come in to the rattling horns but would never get any closer than 100yds. Same scenario Wed morning with a bigger buck. Weds afternoon I was looking at deer moving around me in all directions when I heard something in the creek. This bruiser had snuck up to within about 30yds and was walking straight to me (slightly behind me). I am 25ft up a tree and he another 5ft lower down in the creek. I sat motionless....He gets to 10yds and looks straight up, Are you kidding me? What deer spots a hunter 30ft above? He gets nervous and changes his trail to walk behind me and the tree. When he was behind a tree I stood, spun around and got my bow in front of me. He spotted something blew and jumped away about 10yds. He is now back down in the creek about 20yds away looking back at me. There are some limbs in between me an him and I can't shoot unless I lean out of my climber a little, as I get ready to pull the release trigger the my stand loses grip and shift a little. I loose my balance temporarily and make a bunch of racquet. The deer runs across the creek and stops....he is looking around, I grab the rangefinder .... 47yds. I put my 50yd on the bottom of his belly and touch it off. It has now gotten into the last 30min of daylight and I could not exactly see the last 10yds of arrow flight. The deer tuck tail though and ran straight up a huge hill like his tail was on fire. As I am climbing down the worst monsoon I have ever been in comes an washes away any possible blood trail. After looking for my arrow for about 45min we start looking in the direction the deer ran ..... nothing. After a few hours of searching we gave up. A couple of days later (on sunday- when no one was hunting) we went back and continued our search and found this bruiser a few hundred yds away in a cedar thicket.
