JimT
I prefer a treestand because I can see further, and my scent is higher off from the ground.
ladydiehard
Re: treestand or ground Treestand. But I hunted from a ground blind for many many years because members of my family didn't allow treestands.
hutchies
Re: treestand or ground Without a doubt. Treestand. I have a ground blind but would much rather be in a tree even if I am only 10 feet off the ground. You can see farther and not scented as easily. spcfoor
Re: treestand or ground I like hunting from the ground. However if I had a climbing treestand I would hunt from there once and a while.
Shawn
Re: treestand or ground during bow season i always hunt a treestand, keeps yer scent higher off the ground and helps bring deer in closer, when im gun hunting im very rarely in a stand....during gun season almost all the leaves are of the tree and you can reach out further with the gun

Tominator
Re: treestand or ground Tree. Tall tree. I just like it up there. Stealth mode I guess. Like swaying in the breeze, watching the birds and squirrels, and other stuff that has no idea you're around.
tedicast
Re: treestand or ground I always bowhunt from a trestand. In the early season when everything is still green, you definately have a better field of view.

double_drop
Re: treestand or ground Treestand but for some reason I have shot more deer on the ground while bow hunting. i still like the treestand better though
PAbowhunter86
Re: treestand or ground It depends on the land I am hunting. I hunt alot of different public lans and alot of times deer are in the thicker woods because not as many people go there. If there are trees to climb I like my treestand, but I am not a stranger to ground hunting. I shot My doe this year from the ground. 15yds. Also on windy days I like to hunt fromt he ground because I get sick if the tree is moving to much. So it depends on the weather and the location. rockefeller66
Re: treestand or ground I like to hunt in a stand because you are less noticable to the deer but I don't think I have sat in one of our stands this year, only sat on the ground, i like ground hunting cause i can be more mobile and be on the same level as the deer, just adds a little more excitement I think!!!!!! 6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: treestand or ground deffintly the tree, some much easier than being on the ground, plus your scent desipates faster in the air, but there is a certain rish you get from being on the ground and being eye level with those deer, very cool
Swamphunter
Re: treestand or ground I prefer a treestand...the scent thing I guess. Plus I feel for visible on the ground. I love the feeling of the deer being right below you and not even knowing I am there!
MUDRUNNER
Re: treestand or ground I almost always hunt from a tree.I think you can get away with a little more, and the deer seem more unaware when hunting from a treestand. firefighter
Re: treestand or ground I like both, but i tend to hunt from the ground more than in a tree.... due to it being more of a challenge during bow season....... I can still get em in within 20yds and sometimes closer ........
deerslayer2295
Re: treestand or ground I like being in atree during bow season, but on the ground during rifle or muzzleloader season.
puffy
Re: treestand or ground Stand hunting offers me a better vantage point, more freedom to move undetected, and like most other stand hunters better scent control depending on the wind. I like the ground also but usually only in situations such as a new area just scouting and hunting it the first time or no available stand sights.
