My friend and I went out hunting Saturday night back in this new spot that I havent hunted at all this year. My cousin, my dad, and the local farmers have been seeing this deer in the area, so we thought we'd try it out. Got back there a little after 4pm, got set up on the edge of a hill over looking a large creek bottom. Used the rattling antlers, grunt call, and a doe bleat call. I have never used a doe bleat call before, but i tell you, if you dont have one yet, go buy one, because they work great. We sat the until about a liitle after 5:30. I went to leave the woods, and my friend was behind me about 20 ft or so. I'm walking along a fence row, theres a corn field to my left thats already been harvested. (You can probably picture this in your head.) As I go to cross over the fence, I friend gets my attension. There he is, the buck I've been looking for! He's satnding no farther than 50 yds in the corn field. He is just massive! My heart starts pounding! My friend begins to call him w/ the estrus bleat, and he slowly begins to come towards me. I am standing up motionless. He stops every so often, but comes into around 25 yds. The way he was acting, I thought he'd come into about 15 yds or so and id get a great shot, so i waited. I guess i shouldnt have, cuz he either winded us or heard my friend move. He never really looked at me though when he came in. Hoping to get another chance at shooting him. This deer is just massive, both body and antlers. Went out tonight, called in 2 or 3 does. Had a lot of fun. One came in close, ran away, and came back in a total of 3 minutes or so. Let you know when I harvest him. God bless

Sounds like you had a great experience. Its not always about the kill, I bet you would have loved to have a camcorder on you to have just filmed that situation.

[/ QUOTE ]that would of been a good idea, i thought about it, but my camcorder doesnt have any batteries in it right now. Good idea though.

Good luck with him.

This wouldn't happen to be in Lucas or Wood county, would it? The area sounds familiar.

[/ QUOTE ]Close, Henry County

[/ QUOTE ]Ya he's big alright, not so much tall tined, but he is very wide and really heavy massed.

140 in Henry is a big, big deer.
