back tension?

I am thinking of going to a true back tension to shot 3D with. This poses 2 problems.

1) How difficult is it to get used to a back tension after shooting a trigger release my whole life?

2) I want to continue to shoot a trigger release in the woods. What problems does this create going from back and forth from back tension and a trigger release?

Re: back tension?

It will take time to learn BT. On the bright side, once you FINALLY get it down, you'll be a better shooter. It will take TIME though....LOTS of time.... tongue.gif

There is no downside as far as hunting with a trigger release. You will actually shoot a trigger release better than before, if you keep the fundamentals of the BT at hand. Good luck...(you'll need it) grin.gif

1. It's not that hard to shot a BT release. Actually, it's easier. But our mind tends to take over and make it complex.

2. ANY release can be shot with BT. There is not one specific release that is a designated BT release. ANY release can be actvated on command. The trick is to actuate the release without a comand. If you are using a std caliper trigger release, you need to hook your trigger finger and squeeze the Rhomboid muscles in the back. That will actuate the release. Simulate holding an egg between your shoulder blades. Then compress the egg with the shoulder blades. This feeling is similar to BT. Now that this is said, a familiar forum member will chime in matter of factly! smirk.gif

and here i am... grin.gif

dg hit it right on the head. Bt can be used with any release. its is primarily for competition shooters , there are a few that use Bt while hunting . but most of us just use a index finger trigger release.

like dg said Bt is the ability to concentrate totally into the target. all you know is that your aiming hard and squeezing your back muscle on your release side and the release goes off. this gives a true shot which can be duplicated time and time again.

once a person gets the feel for Bt shooting a caliper release is easier. Bt is also a way i use to break people from punching the trigger. once they figure out how to get the release to go off the just do the same thing with there trigger releases..
