What a day to end oup with this fine buck. Started the morning off with (4) of us hunting my buddys farm. Around 6:30am on of us sticks a nice doe for his first ever bow kill. He was uncertain about the shot so we told him to hang tight and we would come help him in a little while after we hunted. Besides he still had another tag and there is always a good chance a buck could have been following the doe. Around 8:30 I fill my 2nd meat tag for the year and at the same time I hear the radio go off and the guy who shot the doe just stuck a nice buck. i got down and helped him find his doe and located teh arrow from teh buck and saw it was a clean pass through so we decided to let him lay and take care of out other deer. His doe dressed 133# by the way so it took us a little while to get them cut up. Around 10:30 the four of us head out to find this buck. We tracked it on a GOOD blood trail for 100 yards then jumped it. It couldn't go more than 50 yards or so before stopping. We quickly backed out to let it be. We regrouped a few hours later around 1pm and picked up the trail. Another 1/1/2 mile of GOOD blood but the trail ended. We fanned out and covered another mile of ground but no trace. Disgusted and whipped we headed back after 3 hrs of searching. We were almost back to the point were I lost the blood and 20 yards to my left is the buck hiding in a ditch under a fallen tree. I hollard to my buddies to get over as fast as they could (I had no bow/no tag left) Steve was able to send two arrows right in the boiler room and ended our chase. Turns out buddy #1 shot it low with no vitals. We rolled it over to find a nice broadhead wound on his left shoulder from a few days before. Just so happens that Steves dad missed a nice buck on Friday evening when it was quartering away. So Mike nicked it, Tag gut shoots it, I find it and Steve finishes it off. We also find the deer has a deformed front foot from long ago. the ankle had been broken at one time and was actually turned backwards. The deer dressed 188lbs and has a 20" spread. The day ended on a pretty good note!
