RMS buck story

I've been trying all day to post pics of the two bucks I've been blessed with and Jbeck thankfully posted some for me. This has been a very interesting couple days. I'll copy my first story from Sunday and then I'll explain my hunt with the 135+ 9 pt.

I hit the woods today (11/13) at 1:00 and the winds were howling at 20-40. The forecast called for diminishing winds by 3:00 and I had a feeling the bucks would be on the move once the winds calmed down. At 3:00 I was checking the football scores on my cell phone (Vikings beat the Giants, a win is a win) and I looked to my right and hear comes a nice buck. Last Thursday I had a 120 8 pt. 30 yards from my stand and couldn't get a shot. Tonight he's in my garage waiting for the trip to the meat processor! Not my biggest but he's a great buck and will make some great jerky and sausage.

The buck worked his way to within 15 yards of my stand and freshened a scrape that has been dormant for a couple days. The spot I was hunting this afternoon is my favorite. I've taken 4 great bucks off this stand in as many years, it's a funnel that bridges the oak flats to the swamps and the crop fields beyond. When the buck started making his scrape I was at full draw and had to wait about 2 minutes to get the shot I wanted. The new Slick Tricks did the job and the buck only went 40 yards and crashed onto the logging trail. Needless to say it was the easiest recovery and dragging job I've had to make. Pics will be posted tomorrow, I didn't have a photograher and I want to wait until it's light out. Just wanted to share the great news!

The next morning ( 11/14 @ 7:30 ) I took down a 135+ 9 pt. I was in my stand by 6:00 AM and patiently waited for sunrise. I had a great feeling about this morning, the bucks have just started really seeking in the last couple days. This is the lastest rut I've seen in many years. I' have not yet seen a mature buck with a doe. They have all been cruising and seeking.

Anyways...About 7:30 I checked behind me and here comes a rack through the woods right at me. I had to spin around, grab my bow, attach my release and draw within a few seconds. This buck ( the bigger of the two ) was working at a quick pace, nose down, on a mission. I found my spot in the brush to make the shot and bleated at him. He stopped on a dime and I let the arrow go. Not to change subjects, if you haven't tried the new Slick Tricks I highly recommend that you do. Both deer that I shot were double lung and fell within 40 yards of my stand. These broadheads are amazing...blood trails like I've never seen.

Anyways, this buck tumbled over into some dead falls 40 yards from my stand and the rest is history.

The smaller of the two rough scores 120, and the bigger one is 135-140. Thanks to everyone for letting me share this with you.
