I checked the weather and it looks pretty good. It's about time it got colder! This cold front should probably spark a little more movement than I have been seeing. Been bow hunting in southern Illinois pretty hard the last week and half and just haven't seen any good bucks, but not the best weather either: windy, warm..........but can't wait for this weekend. With the hunting pressure there are going to be deer running all over the place and the cool weather will help a bunch. Good luck this weekend and be safe. I've been bowhunting every weekend when I come and I can't believe how fast this season has gone. Hope me and my dad double up on big bucks this year. I on the other hand am looking for a nice doe since I am all bucked out, a good situation to be in lol. My buddy says I will surely see a 30 point buck now, so I am taking my digital camera along and taking pictures of bucks this weekend. Guest fourtrax_300 Posted November 18, 2005 Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 Re: IL Gun Season well it is 9:48 and i jst got in from the woods. i saw doe and fawn abour 125 yards off but i didint shoot cause i wasnt sure i could hit it. then i saw a decent buck walk out of the shatter grass but he spooked and turned around ! so i didnt get one yet. but i'm headin out again shortly. my grandpa shot at a buck that was at a full speed run but we didnt find any sign of a hit. he thinks the slug was bad cause it is from 2000. he's going out to get new slugs now. hope yal kill some and be safe. brownie65 Posted November 18, 2005 Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 Re: IL Gun Season My boy & I saw 1 buck this morning. We had just sat down, I was loading our guns when I heard him coming. He was grunting and coming over the fence about 10 yards in front of us. This was at 5:45 AM this morning. My boy couldn't shoot because it was way before shooting hours.We could see him very well because the moon had everything lit up & he was so close. He hung around in front of us for about 5 minutes & finally left. It was a very nice buck would have been a very good one for my boys first buck. He was pretty excited to be that close to it & the deer never knowing we were there. We had to quit early, I had a doctors appt in the afternoon & he had to go to school for a half day due to a basketball game tonight. We will hit it again tomorrow.
