Alright folks, here you go to get you motivated....The small tract of land I harvested my 280 pound 9 point on October 14th this season, has outdone itself......My buddy Terry, a 52 year old Vietnam vet who took up bowhunting THIS YEAR...and had never shot at anything with antlers sealed the deal, and I cant be any prouder......here is the story...the farmer who assisted us getting my deer out kept telling us "you shot the small one"...and I agreed, as I got a good look at this beast on the hoof heading to my Suburban in the dark of night of my harvest.....me and Terry scouted as much as we could, figured out that when we parked within 200 yards of this swamp, no buck to be seen.....so, I decided to sit this night out (Thursday night) as I had to be with the family, but I told Terry I would drop him off in my stand at 1pm, and pick him up after dark......I got there at dark, Terry is on the ground, kinda shook up...he stated he heard a teen party going on over the ridge (swamp property is close to sub division in Illinois)..so he got out of his tree, and stood in the brush blind we constructed on the fenceline between the cut beans, and standing corn where we saw the monsters prints...well, 20 minutes before darkness fell, ole buck came walking down the fenceline in silence, got spooked by a barking dog, and ended up looking right at Terry, a brand new 52 year old bowhunter at 30 yards....he drew, shot the buck, and listened very well at the travel pattern of the buck....it got down to 31 degrees that night, and since it was not a pass thru, I told Terry " When in doubt, back out"....Terry was a trooper, told me he felt "Great about the shot" and we will give the buck respect and time, till morning".....we found him right away, under MY stand I was gonna sit Sam 16 in this weekend....70 yards from the shot....God Bless and Congrads to my buddy Terry, who listened to everything I told him, including the concentration involved in the last 5 seconds of the shot......the buck scored green 168 1/4 by a well known bowhunter, and had 14 scoreable points, as he had broken off 3 points this week.......his inside spread was 23 inches, and est. live weight was 300 pounds....I cant be any happier, and his genetics are all over my swamp.....(Buckee has the pics, and will post them ASAP, cause he is awesome as well)....al

You betcha I saw it AL. Wow. What a buck and a great story. I would give anything to shoot a buck like that. You had to go and get me even more excited, didn't you. Tell your friend congratulations and nice job. Hopefully I will come home with something half as nice as that.
