00 Buck Shot

I am just curious as to how many people use it. The spot I have been hunting the last few days is very thick. I was sitting this evening and was thinking that this would be the perfect situation for it. I have never been a fan of it really though. So, who uses it and how do you like it?

I love 00 buck, but i only use it when i have clear shooting lanes....If your in a thick area use 4 bk, but if you have nice open shooting lanes the number 1 choice for me would have to be 00 buck.

Took my first doe with 00 few years back. 2 doe on a full run about 30yds away from me. Yelled Hey and she stopped dead in her tracks. Hit her in the front shoulder and she flipped right over, got up ran about 20 yrds and expired.

I hunt both Rhode Island and CT for shotgun. Difference is RI can use 00 and CT cannot. I have been reading that RI will make the change to slug shortly.

the thing with slugs is that you might as well use a rifle. you get 2 more shots. If you are going to use a shotgun (and it's legal) i'd use buckshot.

some states, such as my home state of illinois is a shotgun only state. (bows, black poweder, and pistols allowed too) but why do you need 5 shots ? personaly 3 is more than enough for me. i have never shot twice at a deer, not to say that it woulnt happen.

I gotta agree with Fourtrax here...saying the rifle gives you 2 extra bullets is just psyching yourself up for taking a bad shot "cause you got more rounds to use to make up for the bad first shot". and sorry but IMO(forgive me if I am wrong) there is no other reason to say it that way except to excuse poor aim or shot choice.

If your first shot does what it is supposed to then you don't need another...if your first shot goes wrong, and it does happen, then you need to shoot again if you have time. But that if you have time is a big deal, most people don't have time to shoot twice, and deffinitly not more than.

Practice shooting, and practice patience...don't rely on clip/magazine capacity to make up for poor aim or poor shot selection! mad.gif
