HarvDog Posted November 18, 2005 Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 Here are tips from NAHC on taking better photos: Here are a few tips that could help you take better photos of your future hunting trophies. Position the animal so the entry and exit wound aren't easily visible. Position the animal with the sun at your back. Put the animal's tongue back in its mouth. Carry a piece of monofilament fishing line in your pack and use it to tie the animal's mouth closed. It won't show in the photos. Carry paper towels in your pack and use them to clean up all blood before taking pictures. Level the animal's head. The photographer should get very close to you and the animal before taking any photos. Fill the camera's viewfinder with the hunter and his trophy, without a lot of space on all four sides of the picture. Never sit on the animal. Smile! Show some happiness in your success photos. Don't take photos with the animal in the back of your truck. Take them in the field and on the ground. Move the animal and take pictures from several different angles. Also, one that isn't on their is, make sure you get level with the deer, don't take the picture while you're standing and looking down on the hunter and the deer. This will look better and make the animal look bigger. I always make sure I get a good picture with my deer, but a lot of times my family won't wait to get a picture before they gut it out and throw it on the truck. I still take the deer and go near the woods and take a pic as best as I can make it. Like this one. This was actually shot the evening before. First pic (garage) is when I got home after the hunt.
