horst Posted November 18, 2005 Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 My nephew just turned 2.He went in for his regular vaccinations and the nurse detected a heart murmur.That was last week.Since then theyve checked him out and found out hes got a hole in his heart Apparently where its located its pumping blood back into the lungs that shouldnt be and its causing the breathing problems hes had since birth.Anyway, Sunday they head up to the Mayo Clinic fr some testing and then Tuesday hes going in for open heart surgery to try repairing the hole Hard to watch a little guy like that go in for such a major surgery. Thank God that the hole closed by itself within a few weeks after birth. Surgery on a young one is always hard to bear but like Bowtech stated its not as risky. Sounds like they did the same procedure and fixed him right up. Prayers are being sent form Ohio for the little fella, hope all goes well. horst Posted November 18, 2005 Author Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 Re: Hard to believe Oh, Im just glad they caught it before it caused something more serious down the road.In a way its probably better to have it done at 2 yrs old, Jimmy shouldnt even remember it later on except the scar and i know little kids seem to heal up a lot quicker than they do when theyre older.just a scary thought a youve watched grow up since birth going in for something like that Thanks all for the prayers, its been a pretty major disruption in the families life and I know theyre worried.
