ideas to trick out my ice shanty

I'm taking a 3-D design class right now, and for my final I got permission to build an ice shanty. I have the plans all set, but I still looking for ideas for tricking it out.

I'm already going to cut a crappie and walleye out of the scrap wood and mount it to the sides, and I'm using a shed antler for the door handle.

It's going to be collapsible, so on the inside I'm going to have a platform for electronics, folding shelves and cup holders.

Any other ideas?

A wood burning stove would be awesome Shuan, but we don't get ice thick enough for that here in Ohio.

Birddog, I'm building a collapsible stlye with a canvas cover. It's only a two-men, portable little job, it's going to be 5.5'X4'.

You don't need that much ice to burn wood. As long as you get at least 8 inches you'd be ok. wink.gif We've had as much as 40" up here! blush.gifgrin.gif On average we'll have 32-36" though, it only gets 40" if we get a few weeks of -40 to -45 temps. Thank God for power augers. tongue.gifgrin.gifwink.gif

Yup, I think you'd have a hard time getting through that with a hand crank auger. grin.gif shoot 10" is almost to thick for a hand crank.

10 inches?! Heck I chop that with an ice chisel! shocked.gifgrin.gifwink.gif But then again, I'm a crazy Canadian. crazy.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

Yeah, when it get's to 30" and you're doing it with a hand auger, your kneeling on the ice by the time you hit water. crazy.gifgrin.gif That's why I like my 3hp 10" Eskimo power auger.... ZZZIINNNNG! through 30" in about 15 seconds. tongue.gifcool.gifgrin.gif

There is not a whole lot more you could add to a colaspable other then what you already mentioned.

I was going for light weight and though of a floorless model too. Basically just sides and a roof. Door or coarse.. LOL

Heck a pop up blind would work if you could anchor it which is no prob with a cordless drill and the tent spikes they come with.

Just make a few 45*, or more, angle holes with the drill and slip those spikes in and tighten all the slack out.

Hmmmm.

I may try this.... LOL

Didn't like my deer hooves on the sled runners idea, eh?

It's not that I don't like it, just don't think I could make it happen. grin.gif

Why not? attach a metal piece perpendicular to the sled runner, shove the other end between the hooves, and attach it there.

Some engineer you are. Sheesh. grin.gif
