Got a Wisconsin Buck today

We hadn't been seeing any bucks and very few does. After sitting this morning, I took a walk and saw a few does on the north end of a clear cut with a creek running to the east. There's alot of tag alders in there. My son and I moved a ladder stand so I could see the edge of the clear cut, creek valley and ridge on the east side of the creek.

We got out about 2:30 this afternoon and the wind was howling from the Southwest. At 3:15, I saw a small doe in the tags and had a hard time making her out. About a minute later, this buck came in from the south of her and I scoped him, seeing the horns but with no chance of a shot.

The doe headed east across the river and the buck followed. Once to the ridge, I grunted as loud as I could and he stopped. I shot and he went about 20 yards, stopping again. I took a better rest and shot again, he took off. He was 211 yards away, he ran about 30 yards....I double lunged him. The Browning 270 did a great job. grin.gif I called my son on the radio to get Grampa and come meet me. He was really excited.
