VTbowman
Need some suggestions on a solid hand gun scope under $200. I have been told Burris by 2 folks here already scopes but not sure on the price. I am wanting something more then 4x too. I like it looking REAL close. I am the same with my rifle scopes. 10x setting in the woods. LOL
AJ
Re: Scopes on a T/C Encore-Under $200???? Thats like saying I want a car/truck that goes fast, gets great milage and only costs $10K. To get a high magnification scope that will withstand the 7-08, your budget will have to increase. The various 2-7x scopes may fit your bill. I have a few of the Burris 3-12x32mm handgun scopes and they are definately my favorite. I have not had a problem with them. They are repeatable, hold zero, and offer a picture that no other company delivers. Their 2-7x scopes runs about $250 or so. Simmons has a 2-6x32 ProHunter that is not too bad. I had one on a Encore .308 barrel and it was functional. Weaver has some decent scopes for $200. I have not used their handgun scopes so I can not really comment on them. Keep in mind that using a high powered handgun scope is much harder than using a high power rifle scope. Like other scopes, the eye relief is reduced at higher magnification. The field of view is a lot smaller than most rifle scopes and since your head is not locked down directly behind the scope, it seems to amplify the jitters. I will not hesitate to shoot a deer running full out as long as its a clear shot. With a scoped handgun, it had better be standing still. That's how it is for me anyway. hangunnr
Re: Scopes on a T/C Encore-Under $200???? As usual AJ has nailed it. I did have a Weaver variable. I did not care for the clarity or more properly the lack of clarity at the higher magnifications. If I were you I'd do some serious eBay scouting as there are commonly used Burris scopes offered for auction. Since Burris has a lifetime warranty you can't really get hurt too badly. I just got a 3X for a decent price. hangunnr
VTbowman
Re: Scopes on a T/C Encore-Under $200???? This is what I had thought and normally do not put a $20 POS on a $100 item. On my $600 rifle I spent $500 on the scope. ($1100 total) I was just trying to see if I could get away with it. LOL Its gonna be one of those deals where I can slam a large chunk, maybe 2/3 of it, on the combo and then make $20 payments every week. I was hoping to get it in time for next years hunting.
