Albino Doe Strikes Again!!!

Around this time last year, some might remember of me posting some pics in my journal of an albino doe that I spotted in front of my house in PA. (BTW I'm done with my internship in Ohio and moving back to PA for good the day b4 Thanksgiving!) Well my sister took these this morning, and its almost exactly a year since she first showed up last year. Again I don't have a doe tag, but I don't really feel the need to shoot her to begin with. Her coat is very very white, much more than last year. Here is the pic from last year, and then a couple from this year. Enjoy! Sorry they aren't better quality. My sister's camera is older, and she was trying to be stealthy sneakin' through the woods haha, hence the fleeing deer!

Re: Albino Doe Strikes Again!!!

Is it legal, in il it is not. In one town in il they have albino squirrels and if you run over one the fine you. That deer sure would make a nice full body mount.

Re: Albino Doe Strikes Again!!!

It is legal to take albinos, and piebalds/pinto deer in Penn. You see them in the paper every year. There's always old urban legends that say they are the ghosts of past generals of wars fought long ago in forests filled with haunted figures... they learned to adapt among the figures by becoming white like they were in color... blah blah. If you shoot them they will haunt you forevever and you'll have bad luck... If I shoot an albino buck, its going on my wall.

Re: Albino Doe Strikes Again!!!

Awesome pics, I think given the shot opportunity I would pass this deer up. Its too cool of a thing too be taken out of this world just so I can shoot an animal. I'd rather shoot a regular doe and let this awesome creature live another day. Thanks for sharing

Re: Albino Doe Strikes Again!!!

that deer would be protected here, dang Michigan laws. I've seen some like that, but they were in pens. I have seen piebalds in the wild, those are legal in Michigan.

Those who say they wouldn't shoot it, I've heard to always take piebalds or albinos when you see them if they are legal because it's a genetic defect that's bad for the herd. They are cool looking but if it's bad for herd I'd rather have one out of the population.
