Rifle Scope Zero Shift

That's not suprising at all. A fall from 25' is more than recoil will deliver. Depending on how and what the gun hit will detemine if it should have been damaged. If it was moss and soft dirt and bounced into brush, it might not have had any damage. If it hit frozen ground or rock, and after bouncing on its butt, landed on the scope, it very well could have damaged any scope, regardless of the make. I would give it a functional checkout and be sure it is stable before using it for hunting. High end optics are not bulletproof. They can be damaged just like the bottom end junk if the event is severe enough.

Been there, done it. Well, not from a tree but I did have a rifle with a Leupold slide out of a case that wasn't zipped and land flat on the concrete driveway. I took it to the range and fired about 20 rounds through it. It was off, but adjusted back in. Kept it a number of years without any problems.

Re: Rifle Scope Zero Shift

I would think a 25' drop could have done a number of things like warped the barrel, change the bedding of the gun, or slid the scope in the rings on a rail. Couldn't a change like that be caused be either of those things, or a combinations of things.

I know after I had a 20 foot drop and landed on my feet affected a lot more than just my feet. crazy.gif
