I am wanting to purchase another barrel for this. What do you all think is another good choice? I was thinking maybe a 280 or something along those lines. Any help? There's not that much performance difference between a 25-06 and 280, unless you just want something in that caliber. BTW - 280 IS a great caliber. The factory has a very limited list of chamberings. They offer: .22 Hornet .223 Rem .22-250 Rem .243 Win .25-06 Rem .270 Win 7mm-08 Rem 7mm Rem Mag .308 Win .30/06 Sprgfld .300 Win Mag .375 H&H Mag .45/70 Govt Any and all that are larger than your .25-06 will work well for deer. You can increase the list significantly by checking out Fox Ridge Outfitters. They have a decent line of cartridge offerings for the Encore.
