I shot at a 140 inch deer this sunday and i thought i hit him high in the lungs. It was at the very last shooting light and i guess i was wrong.I was very excited but when i went to look for him there was no blood. I backed out and gave the buck till the next mornig. I took the day off school to look for him for 6 hours but i just coudn't. Then my dad went hunting on monday morning and the deer walked 70 yards from his stand chasing does with a nice scar on his back. I am upset that i missed him at 31 yards but am happy that he is alive and well and i might get another chance!!

Re: NOOO!!! I only gave the monster a hair cut!!!!!

I missed a dandy this year also - right underneath. Drew a little blood from the brisket, but after a few drops here and there it gave out after 175 yards.

I am using an HHA Optimizer Lite (an adjustable sight) - at crunch time I did everything right except remember that I had set the sight for 20 yards and the shot was at 32. I'm thinking of switching to prevent this in the future. I can picture everything: a wide rack coming throught the woods, picking my time to stand, turn, and draw, - mouth grunting him to a halt, squeezing the shoulder blades, watching the vanes rotate around a little green dot as the arrow flies perfectly, and then...having the air sucked out of my lungs as I watch the arrow start to drop farther and farther....ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

I'll get him next year!
