its amazing how much you learn when your gun does not fire. i left the safetfy on while taking a practice shot to insure my scope was on. well i squeezed closed my eyes and pulled hard down and right. Boy did i feel stupid. So next shot i switched the safety off and relaxed and kept my eyes open. Dead center. I hope that fixed it. I can always shoot good on game but not targets. now i know why. too much oh no this is gunna hurt. (i got scoped pretty bad once).

Re: Revelation

Oh yeah, it happens. A large cause of flinching is magnumitis. It takes some concentration to shoot a large caliber gun accurately on the range. When shooting at an animal, the kill zone is large enough that you don't really notice if you are off a bit. It shows up plain as day on paper though.

Re: Revelation

Oh yeah, I know what you mean... grin.gif I always used to have that problem when I shoot my Remington 700 .300 Win Mag at the range, it sure does seem to kick a lot more at the range than in the field. tongue.gif I think the best thing would be to get used to how much force it takes on the trigger until the weapon fires. That's what I've done with my mag, and I have no problems now. I just squeeze until I know it's about to fire with the slightest bit more force, take a steady aim, and squeeze it the rest of the way. A big deep breath right before I shoot always helps too.
