Tattoos are like eating Captain D's fish for lunch before a long afternoon meeting.....a much better idea before than after! Just know that while they are the rage now, they might not be later. Where I live, those lower back tatoos come with a certain label that many youngsters don't know about. But I will leave that right there. If you really are curious, PM and I will clue you in. If you truly like the design and where its placed, then get it done. I have eight myself and enjoyed getting them. They all represent a different point in my life. Some girls suit having more tattoos, some girls look great with one or two. Depends on you! And only you! I think the picture you have picked out is great! From one waterfowler to another, there is something about that curl that holds a lot of meaning for what we love to do. HOWEVER!!! Think about it! Do you want just the Feather? Do you want it on your back? I would suggest your ankle if you want just the feather. It would look "lonely" on your back without design around it. Might be too small. Your ankle is delicate and might be a better fit. I've wanted a celtic sun on the inside of my right forearm for a while now. I've been thinking about it for about 3 years and still want it. I think it would be safe for me to get it. I've had the same one mocked up a few times. If you are interested in tattooing, there are some good shows on TV. Inked is on A&E, and Miami Ink is on TLC. They are good shows to watch because there is some amazing artwork. Make sure you get an artist that is good at what he does. Some specialize in portrait, pin ups, wildlife, feathers, oriental design. Make sure you do your homework and go in for a consult. Check out the tattooists personal portfolio. If they don't have time for you, they are not what you want. A good artist/tattooist will take the time to talk things over with you, mock up a temp and let you feel it out for a while. They'll even paint it the color you want, so you get the color just right. Take it home for a week. Have your significant other take a picture of it. Then do what you think is best. Tattoos can be maintained as well. A friend of mine has hers done about every 5 years. Keeping the colors bright and the lines crisp. It always looks brand new. I have OF COURSE the USMC tat with Taz on there dripping blood from his knife. I have a wolf on my left arm. I have a oriental dragon on my calf that I got over in Okinawa. I have both my sons names and birthdays on my shoulder blades. I have a little memory tat on my side from a certain day in Iraq. I however don't like seeing tats up and down peoples arms. Too me that looks hidious but if that's their cup of tea, so be it. When I am dressed in normal clothes (T-shirt and jeans), you would never know I have any. On guys they make you look like your either stupid or a drunk. On girls add any 4 or 5 letter word meaning a woman with no moral values or respect for her body to the guys discription. A sort of sign that she is wild and open minded. But once a woman hits late 20's or early 30's with one, it kind of screams "LOW RENT". Also, keep in mind the strong posts of some of the guys here and think about a potential future mate. If he (or she ) doesn't like it and can't get around it then you could potentially lose someone you really like. But ..... for the love of all that is pure and holy ..... respond to your own post. It's a personal thing I guess. My wife, during her midlife crisis I guess (45), wanted to get a little butterfly tattoo. I told her to get two. I made her a deal if she got my name tattooed on one of her butt cheeks first, she could get the butterfly. Last I've heard about it.
