Friday Nov 25 morning hunt, i was going to meet wilf down at the farm for a morning hunt. I jot up at 5:00 AM it was raining a little so i checked the weather report and it was calling for showers and light rain with it clearing later in the morning,but the wind was all wrong. The prevailing wind down where i was going sit for the morning is usually NW but that morning it was coming from the S so the wind would be coming from behind me and blowing out to any deer coming my way. Now i needed to be as sent free as i could be so i had a hot bath with baking soda washed my hair wit baking soda and brushed my teethe with baking soda All of my hunting clothes had already been washed in b soda so i was as scent free as i could be so off to the farm i go.

Got down to the farm at 5:45 AM legal shooting time is about 6:45 so i waited for my buddy for about 15 min but no one showed up so i drove down into the field and parked at the little bridge so i only had about a 150 yd walk to where i was hunting. I grabbed my shotgun ,pack and chair and headed to the blind,when i got to within 20 yds of the blind i see deer shadows to my right approximately 25 to 30 out in next field directly down wind from me, i figured they would bust me for sure but i still had time till legal hunting time so i slowly mad my way the last 20 yds set up my chair Lit up a fumy deer attractor (kind of like an incense stick for deer) and sat down to wait.

Just as it's getting to legal time a nice size doe comes threw the fence opening about 15yds in front of me and then comes another doe from the same place,they both walkabout 40 yds past the blind and 10 yds apart and start to brows

About 5 min later a 2x2 buck comes in the same opening following the does and stops 25 yds away to look at both doe's he presented a perfect shot and down he went. The doe's look to see where the noise came from and just went back to eating,i watched them for about 15 min then i decide to try and sneak away without disturbing them. As i stood up i looked to the north where i was going to exit the field and rite there are about 15 deer including a few more bucks chasing does around,so i sit back down and wait for them to leave the main field. Ten more minutes pass and they start to file into the small field that i'm in but 60 yds away at the grass blind. I think i counted 17 deer including 3 bucks that came through after i shot mine

I shot my deer at about 7:15 and didn't get off the field until 8:20 because of all the deer activity

It sure pays to be scent free all of these deer were directly down wind from me and close they never busted me

You almost got it right Steve, it was my 4th time out this year. I will be going out in the morning again tomorrow with wilf maybe we will come away with two more. There are so many doe's i will be going for a doe unless a HUGE buck shows up can take either. Hopefully you can get down there to watch even if it snows tonight
