Looks like bird crap on the back of the rack to me-maybe there's a moose and a half there lol.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think that it's bird crap, but new antler under freshly rubbed velvet. Looks like two racks to me, I've never seen points grow srtaight up out of the center of a palm before. If it's real, that's awesome, but I doubt it.

Re: Big moose

I saw it posted on another site and this was the info that came with it. Apparently it could challenge the world record.

"The moose in the photos is an Alaska-Yukon moose taken by Eric Arnette on September 5th. It was taken in the Kilbuck Mountains, which is 380

miles west of Anchorage, AK. The rack is approximately 75 inches wide, has about 36 countable points, and was unofficially scored by a person who is not an Official Measurer at around 264 points."

It's also on the Boone and Crockett website under the Trophy Watch section.

A huge moose, that's for sure!

Re: Big moose

This is what the B & C website says about it.

Big Moose on Campus

November 5, 2004

Yes, this gigantic bull moose IS as big as he looks. Eric Arnette was fortunate enough to bag this bull on Sept. 5th in the Kilbuck Mountains (400 miles west of Anchorage). First reports on this monster are that he is 75 inches wide, has 36 scoreable points, and could challenge the World's Record at more than 260 B&C! We'll make sure and keep you posted. Stay tuned!

Sounds legit.

Re: Big moose

Seems like everytime someone shoots a huge animal like this now days people automatically say it is fake. (and there have been alot of faked photos) The internet sure has made people skeptical in this day and age. It is too bad people have to fake animals because the people who shoot legitimate animals( like I think this one is) deserve alot of credit rather than the suspicion they get.

Looks real to me. I have a shed that has a growth out of the palm like that(a much much smaller shed).

[/ QUOTE ]

That's cool, I've never seen that on a shiras. That is one huge mutha. looks like the back of the rack is still shedding, while the front is already colored. With so many fakes around, it's good to see the real deal. Guilty until proven innocent i guess. Congrats to the hunter.....

Sad isn't it.. It all rolls back to the "Cry Wolf" story. Anymore you're guilty until proved innocent.
