VTbowman
I was wondering if I sighted in with a 180 grain Core Lok then went to shoot a 180g Soft Point would I be still sighted in? Same bullet weight and caliber, just different bullet design. I seem to have a bucket load of 30.06 180g shells just a few different bullet designs. VermontHunter
Re: Do 30.06 180g=30.06 180g if bullets are diff???? If you remember Shawn when I switched fron the 165 grn. Ballistic Tips to the 165 grn. Accubonds the Accubonds where about 2" higher and about a 1" right compared to the Ballistic tips..... So I would say each design even tho same in grns. hit different....
fisherguy
Re: Do 30.06 180g=30.06 180g if bullets are diff???? Not at all. my gun shoots 180 grain soft points dead on if sighted in for that, then if i shoot a 180 grain pointed soft point (both remington core lokts) it will be about 2 inches off. AJ
Re: Do 30.06 180g=30.06 180g if bullets are diff???? Maybe yes, maybe no. It depends a lot on the gun. You may be off an inch or so, but as long as you are keeping your shots under 200 yards, you are probably ok. I would recommend shooting a group with one of each and seeing how it does. You may find out they are similar, and you may find out they are way off. I shot some 150 gr Hornady SST and some 150 gr Hornady spire points in my .308 Win with the same load. The SST bullets shot 4" high and 1" left compared to the spire points. I was suprised. My 300 Weatherby shoots Remington 180 gr Extended Range factory loads the same POI as my 180 gr Scirocco handloads. You won't know till you try them. VTbowman
Re: Do 30.06 180g=30.06 180g if bullets are diff???? I would of coarse target test ANY shell I planned to hunt with. I was just wondering if it made much of a difference. I have about 3 1/2 boxes of different 180g and a 1/2 box of 165 Ballistic tips. I plan to buy a box of 150s and see what the gun likes. Thank everyone.
