Re: Who builds their own arrows?

I have an old Bitzenburger fletching jig and RH clamp that I use to fletch my aluminum arrows with many years ago. Lately, I buy a dozen arrows at a time already fletched up from the pro-shop. Time is a factor, and I don't seem to have the time to do that anymore. Your right though, it was fun when doing it.

Re: Who builds their own arrows?

I usually buy arrows already cut to length then fletch them myself with feathers. I've shot the ones that come already done but I like to do them myself. It's fun to experiment with different color schemes to see what looks cool. Plus it gives me the freedom to experiment with different amounts of helical to see what works the best. I think I take a greater amount of pride in my arrows now that I put in the time to make them myself.

yea i like experimenting with different colors. i like using the white dip with 2 white fletchings and 1 blue with a white nock. the only thing is that my fletching jig doenst put a curve on my fletchings, so they are straight but they still shoot just as good.

Re: Who builds their own arrows?

I have for the last 5 years and it saves bunches of money. Mick, that would be the whole purpose of fletching your own arrows, for the cost savings. Pro Shop just love to have guys like you, you are their mney maker. LOL On average it cost 1.75 per arrow to have one fletched. For the cost of 4 arrows fletched, I can buy 100 fletchings and fletch up 33 arrows. You all do the math.

Re: Who builds their own arrows?

I use the Arizona EZ fletcher as well and I found it not only saves money, gives you something to do in February and keeps your friends in stock, it also saves on gas to the pro shop and helps you tune your arrows to shoot almost identical. I started out the season shooting the blazer vanes from bohning but I switched in one night back to the 4 inch vanes. Had I not had my shop, I would have had to make a trip 20 miles away, dropped them off and waited a few days and then made another trip back just to pick them up. I would have paid for the fletcher in one trip. It's neat to be able to customize your own arrows and know what kind of quality goes into each one. I learned just by watching the guys at the pro shop and they gave me a few tips as well.
