horst Posted November 9, 2004 Report Share Posted November 9, 2004 Been awhile since I posted anything about the baby.Theres kind of a mix of good and bad, physically hes not doing so bad, hes sitting up without help, rolling over, and the other day he actually got ahold of the coffe table and lifted himself from a sitting to standing position.Bad part would be hes not able to crawl yet, hes trying hard but his back isnt supporting him enough yet, arms and legs are very strong but the back isnt there yet.He gets along very well in reverse though, he slides himself backwards all over the house on his stomach and gets into everythng So hes still behind there but we knew he would be and arent real concerned, physically hes gonna be all right, its just gonna take time.He will get there when hes ready. MRI results, the fluids unchanged around his brain, theres no more than originally which is good, but it also hasnt diminished any, the hope was over the last couple months he would start reabsorbing the extra, he hasnt. Frankly Im very worried about this, hes making no effort to talk and he shgould be saying words by now or at least copying noises, he does niether.Hes got sensory issues going on{thats what his therapist called it }He will not sleep by himself, And its not anything to do with us, he has to be touching someone or he wakes up screaming.When hes awake he has to have his hand on your face if your holding him or he gets very upset.Theres other things but them are the main ones.So this month we go back to des moines to talk to the specialists.It might mean putting a shunt in and hoping all this resolves itself that way.Ive read up on shunts since my first post about them and while it still scares me , its a pretty standard procedure anymore and hes grown a lot since this all started, I dont lke it but Im willing to admitt it might be neccasary. Other than that his back pain has gone away, and hes a very happy baby moast of the time, were switching his doctor here because Ive decided the womans a moron who hes seeing now, but thats another story entirely and I gotta get back to work.Ill know more after our trip to Des moines later in the month and keep you posted.
