rossman
Head deeper? How can you head deeper if the land you hunt is only 6 acres? --Rossman
QDMAworks4me
Re: Can\'t find a buck Are you being carefull not to exhaust your stands and leave a lot of scent on your property. If you are doing this you may be making the bucks come out just during the night. You are probably also hunting an area where the deer travel and do not bed. Just a few thoughts, it is hard to tell without seeing the property.
dogdoc
Re: Can\'t find a buck 6 acres----on property that small it would be easy to over hunt and if you've already taken two does I bet any buck in that area has "felt" your presence and become nocturnal on your land. In the future it might be a good idea to give the property a break 2 to 3 weeks prior to the onset of the rut--this will keep your scent out of the small area and the bucks might feel a little more comfortable visiting your "greenpatch" good luck and welcome to the forum todd
WvBowhunterKE
Re: Can\'t find a buck like he said they might have " Felt your presence..." So if I was you I would try some scent block, perhaps a drag rag around your stand...I dont know really...Use a spray that is natural around the area your hunt...Perhaps some acorn spray if you have acorn trees around your stand. rockefeller66
Re: Can\'t find a buck i agree with rossman, not much deeper to go but maybe look for food sources and hunt near the does during the rut
Guest tyshe17
Re: Can\'t find a buck hmm...that still isnt a ton of land...enough to hunt, but your deer are going to be moving through (not staying on your land the whole time) especially the bucks during the rut. I would work on finding funnels or hunting on the downwind side of doe bedding areas during this time of the year, and during the rest of the year be sure to use good approach routes to your stands and rotate stands as to not burn them out. good luck! PAbowhunter86
Re: Can\'t find a buck Most of the time I find bucks in or near thicks, exspeical if they have been hunted before. If you can hunt just outside of it then that might be an ok spot. I would scout that area next year for sure mayeb even cut a path into it and sit in an opening inside the thicket. wtnhunt
Re: Can\'t find a buck Welcome to the forums. Think the others are right. Too much pressure, not necessarily just by you can cause the deer to go nocturnal.
