Guest BuckMaster058
Pennsylvania Game Commission officials are investigating a deadly shooting in Sullivan County on this second day of deer season. Officials said it appears the shooting was a tragic accident. They said the hunter was putting on what's called a drive, trying to push deer to other hunters, and that's when he was shot. Sullivan County's coroner said John Bomberger, 64, from the Turbotville area of Northumberland County, was the hunter killed in the Forksville area. Investigators said Bomberger was part of a group working its way through the woods, trying to scare deer toward the other hunters. That's when two men fired at a deer. Somehow, Bomberger was shot in the head. Conservation officers are trying to figure out who fired the shot that hit him. They also want to know if the bullet missed the deer, went through the deer, or ricocheted. "It's not something any CO looks forward to. Family members are upset but we do need to get the information to put the scene together. The most important thing is to hopefully prevent something like this from happening again," said Wildlife Conservation Officer William Williams. Last year, four people in Pennsylvania were killed in hunting-related accidents. Game commission officers are questioning the two hunters who fired the shots, but again they are investigating the death as an accident. wtnhunt
Re: Deadly Hunting Accident That is really sad. There really is just no excuse for accidental shootings. Know your target and what is beyond it period.

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Deadly Hunting Accident Sorry to hear about this story, senseless, plain and simple. I am not against deer drives, I am against reckless shooters who don't think of what is beyond their target. If a deer drive is done correctly no one gets hurt. Senseless tragedy, prayers go out to this hunters family.
