tp793
Our group had a really really slow year. We took only one doe out of a place that has more deer than you can shake a stick at. With 8 people hunting 1 deer out of that place was really bad. I think the weather just stunk so bad that they didn't want to move, who knows. There wasn't much shooting going on around us either and it usually sounds like World war 3.

Went out the first day to try and tag a doe nothing..Very little shooting too , most of the shooting was at running deer . The ever present line shooting lol boom ,boom, boom, pause for about 3-5 minutes boom, boom, boom, ect ,ect...Never and mean never mybe only in a open field would i even think about shooting at running deer and only if it was within 50 yards.. tp793
Re: how ohio gun season going ? So far I have all the deer in my family. I scored a doe early in bow season, and then took a nice 7-point during youth season.
Tominator
Re: how ohio gun season going ? I went to ODNR's site today to look at the statistics of opening day. Interesting results. Some of the traditional producing counties are way down, Fairfield for one was down like 68% I think. Overall the harvest for day one is up though. Here's the link if you're interested. http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/Hunting/deer/deergunopener.htm Personally, I don't gun hunt too much. I've been patrolling my field so trespassers don't wander onto me. I have a couple buddies planning on driving my field come Friday or Saturday. Closest shot around me so far has been at least a mile away. I've heard and have seen the normal, typical deer stories from my students too. I just got off the phone with ohiobucks a little bit ago and he told me that his buddy (the guy who lets us hunt his land) shot a 150 class 10 pt , but I won't steal anymore of his thunder.
