Goose decoys mixed with duck decoys?

I was wondering if anyone puts out both. I did last sat. I was duck hunting, but there are a number of geese that fly over so I added 6 geese floaters to my spread of 2 dozen mallards. The geese where a nice touch (I thought ) because they are big and easy to see far off. Well of the ducks that came in about half seemed to want to land where the geese where, there was plenty of room for the ducks and a pocket in the mallard decoys. I think the geese might have scared them.

Does anyone else use both when hunitng or should I stick with one kind of decoy?

P.s. I see ducks and geese together on ponds around here, and I was set up in the same manner

Re: Goose decoys mixed with duck decoys?

Having a small handful of goose decoys can "seal the deal" for you. When used like that they are referred to as "confidence decoys". You frequently see ducks and geese mixed in a variety of settings so it's only natural to mix them together a bit in your decoy spreads.

Same goes for field goose spreads. Put a dozen mallard decoys away from your main spread and see what happens!
