SaskMan
Re: Will deer eat hay?? Regular hay isn't gpoing to turn their crank that much if there is anyhting else to eat. Alfalfa hay will though.

double_drop
Re: Will deer eat hay?? They eat hay here all the time. We normally throw some out in the woods for them after season so they have food for sure.
wtnhunt
Re: Will deer eat hay?? Have never seen deer eat baled hay here ever. They will eat it laying, cut and might even it sometimes when it is raked, but have never seen them touch rolled or squared bales of anything here including the clovers that I have baled off my plots. Not sure if they would eat alfalfa in pellet form or not.

superguide
Re: Will deer eat hay?? Ask the ranchers who had a couple hundred in their stackyards during the drought-they go nuts over good alfalfa.
ladydiehard
Re: Will deer eat hay?? Poor some molasses on it and deer will eat even the worst of hay.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Will deer eat hay?? Yes if its good alfalfa they will eat it up. Don't feed them moldy stuff if you can help it. I remember an older guy when I was a kid, who has lots of deer on his piece of property and in the winter to help them along and survive he'd drive his pick-up around his 2 track that went around and through his property and drop off bails every 200 to 300 yards. Someone would drive while the other cut the twine and let the alfalfa lay in the 2 track. The deer loved it and he still does it to this day!! My buddy seen a buck eat a brown dried up fern this past gun season, I think they will eat alfalfa easily!
