Tominator
Re: the philosophy of the moon phase Lots of theories, don't know if any are proven science. The two theories that I know of include gravity and photoperiodism. The gravity theory is such that the moon's gravitational pull on the earth affects feeding times for all animals. The photoperiodism one has to do with timing of the rut. The new moon in October or November supposedly helps trigger the rut because of the lack of light entering a doe's eye. Personally, I don't believe in the gravitational one, but I do believe the moon plays a role in the rut, how much, I don't know.
texastrophies
Re: the philosophy of the moon phase Another thought, that I feel has merit, is that deer tend to feed more at night during a full moon.
stevebeilgard
Re: the philosophy of the moon phase big bucks are nocturnal. simple as that. they all feed at night, with or without the moon. i've had the same hunting with no regard for the phase of the moon
