Peace Activists to Be Executed

Four peace activists who were protesting the US presence in Iraq were recently taken hostage by Islamic terrorists and are threatened with execution on Dec 8 if all terrorists currently in US and Iraqi prisons are not released. Two are from Canada, one from Briton and one from the US.

So here's my question:

If US forces manage to find and free the protesters, which I hope they do, will the protesters be grateful for their rescue? Or will they find some way to excuse the terrorists' acts and blame it all on Bush and/or the US?

When they went there, they did it on their own and on their own ingorance. While I hate to see innocent people die, hey, take one for the home team guys and gals shocked.gif

They put themselves there.....they must live with the consequences if there happens to be any. Nobody ordered them to go be there. JMO

Yes, they can all go!! They are so far removed from the real world it's not funny! Real Peace will not come from manit will ONLY happen when Christ returns. They are wasting their time protesting if anything you will see more wars and strife not less. Maybe now those protesters will see exactly what Mr Bush has been saying all along is the facts...they (islimic fundamentalists)want us(U.S.),...DEAD!!!Pass the amunition please!

I agree 100%. Hate to see them die...but definitely hate to see a soldier die trying to save someone who should have had common sense enough to stay out of a war zone. These peace activists run over there to protest a war (and probably the President also), and do not seem to think of the consequences...I guess I'm not real concerned about their consequenses either. I'm concerned about the soldier that may lose his life trying to find someone who should have minded their own business to being with.

Re: Peace Activists to Be Executed

Hey I'm serious man, I hate to see them take the bullet or the ax but they weren't ordered to go there. They went there because they are ignorant and selfish. They put themselves in danger so they need to deal with it. But I know what will happen though. American military will get the call (if they havn't already) to go rescue them and at least one Soldier will get killed in the rescue but they will countinue to protest.

I have my own thoughts about the war. But to me when you protest the war like that, your protesting against the troops as well.

Re: Peace Activists to Be Executed

There are two types of peace activists in my book.

1- Those who are willing to stand up and push forward to mend broken bridges, build new ones if necessary and strive for peaceful solutions in the face of difficulty. Those who are willing to fight against tyrants to bring peace to the innocent and go out of their way to mend the broken hearted. These people are true peace activists and are not willing to comprimize morality and justice for a false peace.

These are those who are willing to lay down their own lives, for the life of a stranger. These peace activists make it their life's journey to strive for peaceful, moral and just solutions, but are not afraid to fight and die for what they believe to be true.

2- Then there are those, who, are willing to sacrifice, not themselves, but are willing to sacrifice morality and justice as well as others, even God, inorder that their own lives my go on uninterupted.

They are willing to stand up and protest, but not willing so much to die. They want peace, but peace at any cost. They see the word Peace, and fail to understand that the "P" stands for "PRICE".

They are dead from the heart up already...IMO crazy.gif....but worth saving none the less, only because they are lost.

Re: Peace Activists to Be Executed

Despite the immense evil of war, Jesus said it is inevitable that wars will continue until He returns (Mark 13:7-8)

[ QUOTE ]

Mark 13:7-8

7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birth pangs.

[/ QUOTE ]

He did not oppose earthly governments or their right to maintain armies (Matthew 8:5-10).

[ QUOTE ]

Matthew 8:5-10 (Words of Jesus in red.)

5When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, appealing to him 6and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible distress." 7And he said to him, "I will come and cure him." 8The centurion answered, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant will be healed. 9For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this,' and the slave does it." 10When Jesus heard him, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, "Truly I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith.

Where were the peace activists when Sadam was in power and tormenting and killing his own people ?

Were they standing in protest, in front of his palaces?

were they standing between the firing squads and the victoms saying "take me instead" ???

What were they doing to help the oppressed in Iraq when Sadam was in Power??

How can we as Christians, be instruments of God by freeing the oppressed and protecting the innocent, and at the same time maintain a peaceful means. It's not always possible.

There is a time for war and a time for peace.

I wrestle with these things in my heart and mind all the time.

Every government official, every soldier, will have to stand before the Lord someday and give an account of why, who, what he was fighting for. Was it revenge ..I hope not.

I could go on..but I'm not going to. I have to stand before the Lord someday too, and just hope his grace will cover me.

Re: Peace Activists to Be Executed

Question to a Christian (my brother's in Christ)

Your driving down an old dirt road on your way home from hunting.

You come across a parked vehical in a little lane-way just off the road...your window is down...and as you pass, you hear a girls voice screaming ...HELP, HELP!!

HELP ME.

You stop your vehical on the road and can see a figure in the other vehical, trying to fight off another figure over her, who is hitting her and tearing at her hair.

What do you do ???

1 - Get out of your vehical, run over and offer the attacker a hug.

2 - get out of your vehical, run over and try your best to try to talk the guy out of assaulting the young lady under him.

3 - get out of your vehical, and run over to the other vehical, with full intent of freeing the captive and oppressed person in the vehical, at any cost to your own personal safety........................................

and then pray that the Lord forgives you for what you just had to do.

4 - drive off, and block it from your mind

5 - go home, get your daughter, bring her back to the scene and offer her in trade for the victom who's being assaulted.

I could go on ................................. blush.gif

Well if I understand correctly Steve, this is what I would do. I probably wouldn't ask for forgiveness though because I would figure the lord would thank me for kicking the guys butt or using non-lethal deadly force or even deadly force if needed. Plus all Marines are given a free ticket to heaven anyway grin.gifcrazy.gif

3 - get out of your vehical, and run over to the other vehical, with full intent of freeing the captive and oppressed person in the vehical, at any cost to your own personal safety........................................

Re: Peace Activists to Be Executed

[ QUOTE ]

my own sins of the flesh are just as great as that mans. There just was no big guy around to throw me down a flight of stairs every time I sinned.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, mine too...I'm guilty

[ QUOTE ]

I can tell you from personal experience that I have had 2 almost exact instances occur in my life, and I came to the physical aid of both women. However both instances occurred long before my Salvation,

[/ QUOTE ]

So, are you saying you would do things differently, now that you know the Lord as your saviour?

As long as we live in this evil world, even as Christians, we will have these ungodly things going on around us and invading our own lives.

As a soldier in the military, you know why you are there. You know that when you are called on, that you will respond and may have to forfeit your life in the process, for another's.

As a soldier for Christ, you also know why you are there. to spread the Gospel of Grace and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. There may come a day where we might actually have to forfeit our lives also, for Christ's sake.

Strange world we live in.

I don't want, nor am I trying to mince words with you, nor am I trying to say their is any salvation earned from war or doing the right thing in the face of snap decisions. I believe in Jesus, because I'm a pitiful sinner in need of forgiveness too.

[ QUOTE ]

When you walk by an abortion clinic, do you......

#1 Rush in and kick the doctors arse?

#2 Try to talk him out of killing babies?

#3 Look the other way, and write off the murder of children as the sin nature of this world?

[/ QUOTE ]

I choose #4 ...LOL Pray "Come Lord Jesus, come" and exorcise my vote appropriately in hopes that laws will change in the meantime. And, I'll just keep on getting persecuted by men and women for my beliefs every time the subject comes up. Hey, who knows, somebody may even blow my head off for my beliefs someday ...I ain't worried.

I'm bound by the laws of the land, which forbid me from going around punching out doctors.

We are fortunate that in this country we can vote for people who can change laws.

I'm not trying to glorify war. I hate it. All I can think of as I look around at this sinful world and all the troubles in it, is "Come Lord Jesus, come".

I'm just saying that as long as our flesh lives, we, even as Christians, have to deal with fleshly and worldly things, even as a believer who wants nothing more than to have it all done with and live in the spirit with the Lord at our side forever.

[ QUOTE ]

Ask yourself this. When John was being beheaded , did Jesus, and the followers storm the prison?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, because John was a soldier dieing in action, for a cause worth dieing for.

Pretty simple answer, from me eh grin.gif besides, there wasn't enough of them to do anything about it. Pitiful answer..I know blush.gif

[ QUOTE ]

Did Peter, and John plan a covert attack to free Jesus at Calvary?

[/ QUOTE ]

There was a sword drawn in the garden and an ear cut off, but Jesus had that situation under control, and besides... It was God's plan for Jesus to die, and Jesus' decision to die in my place in order to save my sorry butt. Kinda hard to stop God in his tracks.

Hey, I'm a Christian talking about a worldly subject, that we all, saved or unsaved, have to deal with on a daily basis.

Re: Peace Activists to Be Executed

[ QUOTE ]

My responses here, on this topic are based on the fact that many seem to be mocking people who are actually trying to do this

[/ QUOTE ]

You have already pointed out..which I agree with, that a man-made peace is not really peace at all, but a false sense of security. Peace without Christ is not peace at all.

Like I said in my first post, "Then there are those, who are willing to sacrifice morality and justice as well as others, even God, in order that their own lives my go on uninterrupted. They want peace, but peace at any cost. They see the word Peace, and fail to understand that the "P" stands for "PRICE"."

There a many peace activists, who do not believe in Jesus at all, in fact on the contrary, they believe that if Christianity was to die, there would indeed be peace on earth. These were the peace activist I was talking about above.

Yes, I agree, real personal peace comes from knowing Jesus. Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the word of God. Maybe I'm just dreaming here, but I see a future opportunity in Iraq, where the Gospel will finally be preached and heard and believed.

This war was not and is not a war aimed at conquering a nation and taking the spoils for yourself. It was and is about removing a tyrant dictator and his croney's from power and trying to bring some sort of democracy and freedom to an oppressed people.

I agree, that Peace without Jesus, is all carnal stuff and worldly stuff, and yes, even a false sense of security, but it does/will open the door for the Gospel to be preached and it my just give the people over there the freedom to believe in Jesus without fearing the firing squad.

Maybe I'm just dreaming, but I can see Iraqi lives being saved here in the future, both physically, and Lord willing, spiritually as well. I see an opportunity being present to the Iraqi people that could change their lives and open the door for the gospel as well.

If you see a man drowning, do you yell out to him from shore..."believe in the Lord, and you will be saved"

or

do you swim out there and save him first, then when he is safe and comfortable , tell him about Jesus, and how amazing it was that you happened to come along when you did.

Christians are not soldiers

[/ QUOTE ]

confused.gifconfused.gif Then what were the soldiers of the HOLY WARS ?? Didn't they fight for GOD and COUNTRY ?? Or am I missing something here ???

I probably should know better than to jump into a debate with highly educated invidules, but I seem to remember these wars being fought by Christians and GOD fearing people.... I could also be wrong..... crazy.gif
