Since I plan to buy my barrel from the TC Custom shop at Fox Ridge Outfitters I was thinking of putting one of those muzzle brakes on there too.

I am getting a 7mm.08 for those who dont know yet. LOL

Need your opinions on this move.

To loud?

Unneccessary?

Good Move?

Pluses?

Minuses?

I have been told I may not like this on my gun...

Thanks all.... smirk.gif

Re: Muzzle Tamers anyone???

I have no idea of the recoil generated by the 7-08 in the Encore or Contender pistol.

That said, I have an old Contender in .375 Win and an Encore in .450 Marlin and they both generate considerable recoil. I do, however, have a muzzle tamer on both guns, and I am convinced I am able to shoot them more accurately as a result. The recoil is brisk but is almost entirely rearward, with little or no upward flip of the muzzle. So they do definitely reduce recoil.

The only downside that I see, is that both of them are ear-splitting loud. To remedy this I wear a Walkers Game Ear in my right ear and a foam plug in my left. I can still hear well, yet am afforded protection from the muzzle blast.

Perhaps you may want to ask some questions from the guys at a site like handgunhunt.com. I know some guys on there shoot the 7-08 in pistols. You ought to know that even without the muzzle tamer, these pistols are somewhat loud.

Hope you enjoy the gun. Handgun hunting is great IMHO.

Re: Muzzle Tamers anyone???

I never realized just how loud they are since I always shoot with foamies at minimum.

I took a deer last year with a .357 Mag revolver and thought my left ear was gonna bleed after I shot.

Man.

I definately plan to try and incorporate some sort of ear protection when out there.

Not sure if the Game Ear will be in my arsenal since they are kinda pricey...

Thanks for your reply...
