COPIED FROM JAYSKI.COM

Knaus leaving Hendrick? hearing [or have leaned] that #48 Hendrick Motorsports crew chief, Chad Knaus will leave the team and driver Jimmie Johnson and go back to Evernham Motorsports [was one of Evernham's first hires, until moving to #92 Melling team in 2001], then Hendrick Motorsports in 2002 to crew chief Johnson.(12-2-2005)

If Chad is really leaving, or has left the #48 team, it will be very interesting to see how JJ does this coming season.

Re: Knaus Leaving the #48?????

I like that Jayski has info that posted days before NASCAR.com does, but half the time it is just a rumor.

I guess it isn't so bad. I'd hate to see a driver I like get stuck with that dinger Knaus and I'd hate to see a good crew cheif get stuck with a clown like JJ. smirk.gif

Re: Knaus Leaving the #48?????

I am sure if these guys are showed the right amount of money they will leave. Why do you think Busch left Rousch? Penske more than likely offered a better deal over the long run.

So even winning a championship and finishing in the top 10 in points does not ensure a driver or crew chief won't leave.

They all drive and crew for the Jackson's, Grants. and the Franklin's. Money fuels the sport!

Here\'s the Quote!!!

By Jenna Fryer, The Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is done talking about the points standings. In fact, he claims he hasn't even looked at them this week. In serious danger of missing the playoffs, Earnhardt has found the best strategy for him is to not even worry about it.

But should he get shut out, he doesn't want to be alone -- Earnhardt wants Jeff Gordon to miss the cut, too.

"I'm sorry, Jeff, but if I don't make it, I hope you don't either,'' Earnhardt said this week. "That way I am not the only one talking (about missing it).''

Misery loves company, and Earnhardt knows he's going to need some companionship if he's not racing for the Nextel Cup in NASCAR's 10-race playoff series. With three races left to qualify, Earnhardt is 16th in the standings -- 158 points out of the 10th and final qualifying spot. tongue.gif

Re: Here\'s the Quote!!!

Heck, I don't blame him for saying that. crazy.gif No driver in NASCAR has ever been under ths spotlight and talked about as much as Junior. I think all that pressure is way too much. He got more attention for missing the Chase than Stewart did for dominating the season. Yet, everyone talked about a guy that hasn't proven much more than somone that is a 4X Champ with several Daytona, Indy and Charlotte wins. I can see why he said that. I'd sure think Gordon would have gotten more attention for missing the Chase, but I guess not.

Re: Here\'s the Quote!!!

Well Matt my take on Jr. is that he has to kill his last name first and foremost. Unfortunately he his blessed ( or should I say cursed ) with about the greatest last name in NASCAR...

Everyone expects him to be as great as his dad, I don't think anyone will ever be able to live up to that one....

Jr. definately has his own talents, the boy can just flat out drive a car, and there's NO disputing that fact, but the spotlight as you mentioned takes it's toll week after week, the distactions are just too much and his PR crew needs to handle that side of it better than they have in the past.... JMHO on that one..

As for his comment, I read the whole interview on that one,,, and it was meant more as sarcasm than anything from being asked the question " what are you thoughts and feelings of not making the chase ?" It wasn't meant as a stab towards Jeff and his crew..... wink.gif

I feel Jr. will break away from his last name curse and show the NASCAR world what he is made of real soon in the near future, once he has that first CHAMPIONSHIP tucked away under his belt hang on NASCAR becuase this boy is going to go on a CHAMPIONSHIP tear like NO other..... wink.gif MARK MY WORDS.... and it's coming soon..

You and I like to poke at other drivers for fun, but we know where talent and skill is due.... wink.gif

Of course. I wouldn't expect a serious comment like that from any driver.

You need to go back and really listen to the words of that song. Tim Wilson is actually poking fun at all the crybabies who could not stand the early success of Jeff Gordon. As a fan of the 24 car from the beginning, i still delight in how much just the very mention of his name makes people twist themselves into knots! laugh.gifgrin.gif
