Idaho_ Elk_ Huntr
Anyone use Interbonds or Accubonds? I havent had a pass thru with either. This bullet dropped my whitetail buck. Fired out of a 300 Rem Ultra mag @ 100 yds @3350 fps. Its a 180 grain Interbond. Weights 110.8 grains. Only difference I have found between the 2 bullets is that the Accubond sheds more weight. Just seems like these bullets would blow right thru at that weight and speed.
plannerman
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds I'm shooting Accubond 140's in a 270 WSM. All pass throughs on whitey's and muley's in MT past 2 season, EXCEPT on a couple of spine shots where I'm assuming my bullets did the same as yours as there were only pieces and a chunk of base. AJ
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds I have not shot those two but I have used the Swift Scirocco a lot in my 300 Wby Mag and my 338 Win Mag. They have worked very nice for me and have passed through on 3 of the deer I shot with them. I am shootnig the 180 gr .30 caliber bullet at the same speed you are 3350 fps (28" barrel) and I love these bullets. The plastic tip serves a dual purpose, it makes a very nice tip that helps give the bullet a great BC but it also enhances expansion. The tip gets driven in the body of the bullet and gets the expansion happening faster than with a soft point. They do leave some nasty wound channels. How far did your deer go after the shot? What part of the deer did you hit?
Idaho_ Elk_ Huntr
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds Everything so far has dropped in their tracks. Hit it behind the shoulder and the bullet lodged in the off shoulder. I have never had a problem with bullets passing thru till I tried these and the Acubonds. Just courious why they dont make it though. I dont think I want to use them on elk. I like my arrows and bullets fully penetrating. I may give the new Barnes MRX's a try
WaCoyote
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds I used 165 grn interbond last year and it passed through after it made a square hit on the far leg bone. Thats just a little weird that you've had two do that. They lost a lot of weight too! I switched 150 grn scirrocos this year as I wanted a faster load. Maybe give them a try. They are basically the same bullet but I think the jacket is thicker. Not sure though, ask AJ.
elkhntnfool
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds I use the 160gr. accubond out of my 7mm Rem Mag. for deer and elk. Every shot has been a pass thru and dropped'em were they stood. I really like the accubonds but to each his own.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds Sounds like you should go back to the time tested--Nolser Partition.
VTbowman
Re: Interbonds & Accubonds Swift Scorocco 180s in my 300 RUM too. Never had one stay inside longer then .000000001 seconds. LOL All pass threws and all but one hit major bone with sever wound channels and unbelievable damage to said bone. (The one that did not was a double lung hit and 90% of the lung/heart matter was gone upon field dressing. Not damaged. GONE!) Little muscle damage due to the heavier jackets. Made for pass threws IMHO. LOL
